THE CAR
A 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo coupe, it's a virtually one-owner car, having been acquired by the current owner in early 2002 with low miles. It was an early Shark Werks project which started in 2005. It now has just over 41k miles!
Crucially, a 6-speed manual with that famous Mezger engine, a 3.6 liter, 415 HP, water-cooled, twin-turbocharged flat-six, featuring 24 valves, twin camshafts per bank, and Porsche’s VarioCam continuously-variable cam phasing technology. This engine was originally derived from the 3.2 liter unit that powered the ’98 GT1 Le Mans winner. Porsche de-tuned these and the 996 Turbo ‘inherited’ the technology from the race proven LeMans winner for street use in the new water-cooled turbos.
It has an ‘OEM' GT2 front end conversion including bumper and radiator sourced from Suncoast Porsche. A carbon fiber MA Shaw rear decklid and carbon fiber wing was installed to complement the front end and to achieve aerodynamic balance.. The car rides on MOTON ClubSport suspension components (with bound and rebound control) along with 18-inch custom built HRE wheels and stops via an ALMS inspired Brembo GTR , lightweight titanium 8 piston- 15-inch rotor brake kit. Interior features upgraded steering wheel, short shifter with hydraulic assist removed, aluminum pedals and carbon fiber trim from MA Carbon. Upgraded engine mounts, sway bars, and other intake elements remain.
This 996 Turbo coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with the owner’s manual, and a clean California title. The car is smogged and California registration is valid until Oct 2024.
